Interprofessional education

This project will be the subject of a formal evaluation.  Details will be published as they become available.

Welcome to the student portal. This portal provides information and links to resources to support you on your clinical placement at Bethesda Hospital.

Medicine and nursing students from the University of Western Australia and nursing students from the University of Notre Dame Australia School of Nursing and Midwifery will be undertaking clinical placements in the palliative care setting of Bethesda Hospital. Throughout this clinical placement there may be opportunities to participate in interprofessional education.

Medical and nursing students will have the opportunity to utilise both discipline specific clinical training and interprofessional training activities. Nursing students will be supported on clinical placement by a Practitioner Scholar (Nursing) and medicine students will be supported by a Palliative Care Physician.

Students attending a clinical placement at Bethesda Hospital are required to review the orientation package prior to commencing their clinical placement.

Clinical placement information

There are specific details available about individual Bethesda Hospital clinical placements for UWA medical and nursing students and UNDA nursing students.

Caring for palliative care patients and their families can be a stressful and sometimes emotional experience. Our own experiences with illness and death may influence how we feel in certain situations and how we respond to certain events. If at any time you feel overwhelmed, please remove yourself from the situation and speak with your supervisor. Debriefing about your feelings/experiences can be helpful. UWA and Notre Dame also have student counselling and support services available to access if required.
