Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences

Throughout the year, the Faculty Admissions Office has a number of events and admission deadlines. 

Neither ACER nor the UMAT Consortium conduct UMAT preparation courses.  ACER and the UMAT Consortium universities do not recommend or endorse any commercially available courses offering UMAT prepartaion.  Furthermore, any UMAT preparation courses being held on UWA grounds are not endorsed or recommended by UWA.

Dentistry and Medicine Events

UMAT Registration

• UMAT registration is currently open and will close on 5pm AEST 1 June 2012.  Late applications close 5pm AEST 15 June 2012.  Further information on how UWA uses the UMAT can be found here.

Applications

• Domestic DMD and DPM graduate applications are currently open.  DMD applications are due 1 June 2012.  DPM applications are due 1 October 2012.
• Domestic MD graduate applications are currently open via GEMSAS.  Applications close 30 May 2012.
• Domestic DMD and MD school leaver applications will open via TISC in August and will close 28 September 2012.
• International DMD, MD and DPM graduate applications are currently open.  Applications for the MD and DMD close 1 June 2012.  Applications to the DPM close 1 October 2012.
• International DMD and MD school leaver applications are currently open and will close 30 June 2012.

Information Evenings

UMAT Information Evening - School Leaver Pathways to DMD and MD

• An information evening for Year 12 students intending to sit UMAT and apply to one of the School Leaver Pathways to the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and/or the Doctor of Medicine (MD), was held at 7pm on Wednesday 2 May 2012 in the Social Sciences Lecture theatre.
• This was not a preparation course. The UMAT Consortium and its members do not endorse any preparation course.

Medicine Information Evening - School Leaver Pathways

• An information evening for prospective applicants to one of the School Leaver Pathways to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) will be held at 7pm on Wednesday 9 May 2012 in the Octagon Lecture theatre. There is no RSVP or ticketing for this event.

Dentistry Information Evening- School Leaver and Graduate Applicants

• An information evening for prospective applicants (school leaver and graduate) to the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) will be held at 7pm on Wednesday 16 May 2012 in the Woolnough Lecture theatre. There is no RSVP or ticketing for this event.

Medicine Information Evening - Graduate Applicants

• An information evening for prospective graduate applicants to the Doctor of Medicine (MD) will be held at 7pm on Wednesday 23 May 2012 in the Social Sciences Lecture theatre. There is no RSVP or ticketing for this event.

Interview Dates 

Applicants must attend their interview in person and are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements. There are no telephone, video-conference or skype interviews. Please note that not all dates will be available within the periods listed below.

• July/August in Singapore and Malaysia (international applicants) - sites are TBC.
• September/October in Perth (international applicants).
• 22-29 September in Perth (domestic graduate applicants).
• 5-19 December in Perth (WA School Leaver applicants).
• Mid-late January 2013 in Perth (WA School Leaver applicants on academic reserve).
• Mid-late January 2013 in Perth (Interstate School Leaver applicants).

Applicants must attend an interview within their given interview period and are not able to switch to another period(s). Therefore applicants should ensure they are available during the applicable interview period.
