This course is specifically designed to equip dentists with the skills necessary to be employed as dental academics.

The structure of the course recognises that a full program of dental specialisation is not required by most dentists whose intention is to teach, and instead focuses on dental education, clinical dentistry, clinical oral pathology and research methodology.

The course consists of 48 points in total comprising all of:

• DENT8601 Clinical Oral Pathology I
• DENT8603 Dental Research Methodology
• DENT8604 Effective Dental Teaching and Learning
• DENT8605 Dental Curriculum Development and Assessment
• DENT8606 Professional Development in Continuing Dental Education
• DENT8607 Reflective Dental Teaching

and two of:

• DENT8602 Clinical Oral Pathology II
• DENT8608 Clinical Dentistry
• DENT8609 Dental Research

Admission requirements

Entry to the Graduate Diploma in Dental Education Studies requires a degree of Bachelor of Dental Science from this University, or equivalent as recognised by the Faculty.
