Domestic applicants applying for a graduate pathway to the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) must obtain a minimum overall GAMSAT score of 50.

Generally applicants also require minimum section scores of 50 but please see the notes below.

Please note that these rules do not apply for applicants applying for a graduate pathway to the Doctor of Medicine (MD).  Applicants for the graduate pathways for the MD should see the MD Thresholds page.

Individual section scores

Applicants who receive one section score marginally* below 50 may still be considered for an interview under certain conditions (see next section).  In this instance, marginally means:

  • 47-49 inclusive for Section 1 of the test
  • 47-49 inclusive for Section 2 of the test
  • 49 for Section 3 of the test (we will not consider scores below 49 for section 3 of the test)

Applicants who have individual section scores below the thresholds listed above cannot be considered for entry.  Likewise, applicants who have more than one section below 50 (even if both or all three scores fit within these ranges) cannot be considered for entry.

Please note that these selection rules do not apply to Indigenous applicants applying via the Centre for Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health (CAMDH).

Conditions for applicants who receive a sectional score marginally below 50

Applicants who obtain one score below 50 that falls within in the above ranges for the respective section, can only remain eligible for consideration of an interview if they also meet the following conditions:

Rural and Broadway Pathway applicants must meet:

  • A minimum GPA of 6.2 and a minimum overall GAMSAT of 50 OR
  • A minimum overall GAMSAT score of 60 and a minimum GPA of 5.5

Standard applicants must meet:

  • A minimum GPA of 6.5 and a minimum overall GAMSAT of 50 OR

Please note that these selection rules do not apply to Indigenous applicants applying via the Centre for Aboriginal Medical and Dental Health (CAMDH).
