Whatever major(s) students select, those wishing to prepare for the GAMSAT should consider the following units at UWA.  Please note that these units might have pre-requisites.

The information below relates to UWA students,  The Faculty is unable to advise applicants studying at other institutions.

Please note that this is a guideline and students should check the GAMSAT website to find out how much preparation they think they should do.

Biology

  • ANHB1102 can be taken as a Category A broadening unit for studentsnot enrolled in the BSc
  • ANHB1101, BIOL1130, BIOL1131, SCIE1106 can be taken as Category B broadening units for students not enrolled in the BSc.
  • ANHB1101,ANHB1102 BIOL1130, BIOL1131, SCIE1106 can be taken as electiveunits within the BSc.

Chemistry

  • CHEM1001, CHEM1002, CHEM1003 or CHEM1004 can be taken as Category B broadening units in a degree other than BSc.
  • CHEM1001, CHEM1002, CHEM1003 or CHEM1004 can be taken as elective units within the BSc.
  • If no WACE Chemistry need to take CHEM1003.

Physics (for those without year 12 physics)

  • PHYS1021 and PHYS1022 can be taken as a Category B broadening unit for students not enrolled in the BSc.
  • PHYS1021 and PHYS1022 can be taken as elective units within the BSc.

Students on an Assured Pathway to medicine or dentistry

Although students on an Assured Pathway do not need to sit GAMSAT, it is still recommended that they undertake these subjects if they would like to enter the medicine and dentistry courses with the same base knowledge as graduate applicants.
