The course addresses the overwhelming shortage of available expertise in paediatric rheumatology.

It will be decades before there are sufficient paediatric rheumatologists throughout the Asia Pacific region to care for children and adolescents with rheumatological disorders.

Currently adult rheumatologists, paediatricians and general practitioners care for children with rheumatological disorders. Education and training in this discipline is limited.

This course is designed to provide practical knowledge and specialty understanding in paediatric rheumatology. Graduating students may go on to train formally in paediatric rheumatology and provide professional care to children with rheumatological disorders.

Advantages of this course

  • a prestigious University of Western Australia qualification without the need for students to leave their home countries
  • all materials, textbooks, electronic resources and fully functional respiratory or sleep diagnostic software
  • use of WebCT - an innovative online learning system through which students can access learning materials, engage in discussion and complete assessments
