Overseas, research-based and seeding fellowships are offered by the Faculty.

Research-based and seeding fellowships are for a period of two years.
To enhance medical research in our Faculty and also:
There is a preference for these fellowships to be awarded to applicants returning to Australia, with no more than three years postdoctoral experience at the time of application.
To determine the eligibility of postdoctoral candidates, the three-year period commences from the date the candidate submitted their thesis for permanent binding.
Applicants who are yet to submit a thesis, or whose thesis is under examination, may be disadvantaged if their thesis has not been classified as passed by the date of the Higher Degrees Committee meeting to assess applications.
NB: A condition of our medical research fellowships is that successful applicants must, if eligible, apply in the next round for equivalent fellowships at UWA.
To encourage our outstanding medical graduates to pursue further studies or research overseas.
Applicants are required to demonstrate a commitment to return to Western Australia on the completion of their research or clinical skills enhancement.
The duration of these awards is one year in the first instance. However, where a candidate enrols for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at UWA before leaving Western Australia, and also makes satisfactory progress, the award may be extended for 12 months to support the applicant in the second year of their degree.
