Contact Susan Henshall on telephone (+61 8) 9346 2680, for information on Ada Bartholomew Medical Research Trust Grants.
Expressions of interest for research grants are now invited from members of the academic teaching and research staff of The University of Western Australia.
Staff should hold an appointment to a tenurable position or a contract of at least three years duration. Teaching and research staff holding clinical or adjunct appointments at Associate Professor level (Level C) or above on the basis of a contract of at least three years duration are also eligible. Staff holding short-term appointments or funded from research grants would need to apply in collaboration with a member of academic staff.
Five grants of approximately $30,000 will be awarded for one year only. Grants will not be provided to fund the personal salary of the chief investigator but for research assistance.
In accordance with the Deed of the Ada Bartholomew Medical Research Trust, the funds are to be used for “the seeking, diagnosing and investigating the nature, origin and causes of disease in human beings and the prevention, cure, alleviation and combating of such diseases.”
Expressions of interest should address the following criteria:
Expressions of interest should be strictly limited to a single A4 page single page, with a minimum 2cm margin all round and a minimum font size of 10, and with a budget of not more than four lines identifying sums requested for salary support, consumables and equipment.
Special consideration will be given to early career applicants or those within two years of appointment to UWA or within five years of PhD completion and not currently in receipt of a national competitive grant. Please provide this information in your application.
Expressions of interest will be reviewed by the Trust Committee and those judged to be competitive will be invited to submit detailed applications.
Expressions of interest (FOUR COPIES) should be lodged with Susan Henshall, Faculty Manager, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences M500 by midday on Wednesday 8 April 2009.
