Project Outline:
Patients with familial hypercholesterolemia have an increased risk of premature coronary atherosclerosis. This risk though is variable and may be modified by treatment, particularly with statins. In this project we seek to define the incidence of coronary artery disease (coronary stenosis extent and coronary calcium scores) in genetically proven FH, as well the predictors of such coronary artery disease. The predictors to be evaluated include traditional risk factors, metabolic markers including apolipoproteins, Lp (a) and mutations found. The patients will be sourced from the FHWA database with the imaging being available on the WA PACS database.
