The undergraduate podiatry program has been developed around four main streams.
Each stream provides the framework for the achievement of learning outcomes across and within all years of the course.
The streams also provide the framework for the development of the curriculum and for the assessment of students performances.
1.1 Apply the scientific/evidence based approach to podiatric practice.
1.2 Apply an in-depth knowledge of relevant normal human structure, function and behaviour.
1.3 Evaluate and apply knowledge of abnormal human structure, function and behaviour and their effects on general and podiatric health.
1.4. Apply knowledge of pathological and clinical features of diseases relevant to podiatry.
2.1 Provide effective and safe patient assessment and management.
2.2 Perform practical procedures effectively and safely.
2.3 Use effective communication skills.
2.4 Apply and evaluate strategies for health maintenance, promotion and disease prevention with patients and colleagues.
3.1 Apply knowledge of the organisation and delivery of the care system in Australia.
3.2 Demonstrate a working knowledge of the socio-cultural context of health care of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
3.3 Demonstrate knowledge of the effects of a multicultural society on health care.
4.1 Apply the principles of life-long learning and continuing education.
4.2 Apply principles of self care.
4.3 Engage in career development pathways.
4.4 appraise and apply the ethical and professional responsibilities required of a podiatrist.
