The UWA Guild represents the students of UWA to the University, government and the wider community.
Guild societies for our students:
There are several student organisations affiliated with our Faculty.
The Western Australian Medical Students' Society, better known as WAMSS, represents all medical students studying at the University of Western Australia. Every medical student at UWA is by default a 'member' of WAMSS, although financial members receive additional benefits.
WAMSS focuses its efforts on:
The Australian Medical Students' Association (AMSA) is the peak body for medical students in Australia, representing more than 8500 medical students at all eleven medical schools.
Students and Practitioners Interested in Rural Practice Health Education Xcetera (SPINRPHEX) is a Perth-based club for medical, dental and health science students interested in regional health and broadening their understanding of rural health issues and medical practice.
Through academic, clinical and social events SPINRPHEX encourages students to pursue work experiences in rural and remote health.
Western Australian Allied Health Interested In Bush Experience (WAALHIIBE) runs a successful rural GP training program and provides students and registrars with support. WAALHIIBE also facilitates the payment of scholarships to rural medical and nursing students.
Membership is free and open to all allied health students who have an interest in regional health, or want to find out more about the opportunities available for health professionals in the country.
Members are supported through mentoring, education, professional and personal development.
