Evaluation

Evaluation plays an important role in substantive curriculum change.

Evaluation processes must examine not only the product (for example, students knowledge and skills) and the effects of the changes - evaluation also has to examine the unintended positive or negative consequences of the curricular change.

Curriculum change

  • We began a process of curriculum review in 1995.
  • An Evaluation Committee was formed to advise and oversee the process of review.
  • The first phase of curriculum changes were implemented in 2000 for years 1 and 5.
  • In 2003, the new curriculum was fully implemented.

A summary of the curriculum evaluation provides additional details.
