Consultants are responsible for teaching junior doctors.

As there is much evidence that this is a stressful time in training, Consultants need skills to recognise, manage and prevent problems.

Workshop objectives

Regarding supporting trainees, participants will be able to:

• understand challenges during training;
• develop a framework for problems and their underlying causes;
• develop a strategy for management;
• develop a strategy for prevention;
• increase confidence in dealing with difficult situations.

Workshop activities

Includes case review, collaborative problem solving in small groups and role-play in pairs.
